During W.W.II the O.S.S (Office of Strategic Services) was formed as an intelligence gathering organisation, but as the war got more desperate their mission briefs got more dangerous. Search and rescue, sabotage and subversion were increasingly called for, all with immense risk to the operatives who took part.
One such operative started his military career as a C-47 Transport pilot who successfully put his bird down in northern France on the night before D-Day. Given that most of the planes sent were shot down, missed their target areas or crashed, Jimmy Patterson had already distinguished himself and that was before he saved his injured crew from a German patrol. Just before being sent home, invalided out of the war, Jimmy disappeared from his hospital bed. The O.S.S has called, and Medal of Honor picks up the story from there.
